Gispen tuimelaartje Table lamp Art Deco
Very nice little desk lamp called The Tumbler (De Tuimelaar), produced by Daalderop around 1928 . The design has been attributed to the influential Dutch modernist W.H. Gispen.
Its bell shaped shade can be positioned any way you like, for it is counter weighted by a heavy metal ball. The ball is something typical for early 20th century machine age design. Like a huge ball bearing. Interestingly the holder underneath is not attached to the lamp.
The lamp is nickle plated and only the inside of the shade is white to reflect the light. Considering it is an original of around 90 years old, it is in a great condition with only minor user-marks. The electrical wire has been renewed.
